FIRST WORLD WAR MYSTERY Valley resident David Goldsmith shares the story (see page 23) of how his grandfather’s First World War service resulted in the wrong initial on the headstone at his gravesite. Pictured here is the War Medal presented by King George V that Mr. Goldsmith’s grandfather received for fighting on behalf of Britain and the accompanying documentation indicating who the medal was awarded to.
