Making Memories

Columbia County Animal Services helped me find my daughter a best friend. Sophia, my daughter, was only four (4) at the time and had been asking for a little brother or sister, so we compromised and decided on a dog! A while later we learned puppies had recently been born at the animal shelter so we loaded up and went on the hunt for the perfect pup Two different breeds of puppies were available, but we knew a bigger dog was not in the books for us quite yet so we looked into the Pugs.

The staff took us to an excluded room where we got to meet every pup in the litter. It did not take long at all to know exactly which one was for us. The sweetest little puppy waddled up to Sophia and gave her so many kisses and cuddles all while keeping such playful energy I then had to complete the paperwork in order to fully adopt our new girl, Junie. With the adoption, the animal shelter offered to microchip her for only $15, which was an easy yes. Loading her up and taking her to PetSmart to pick out her newest accessories, toys, and “home” decor was next on our list. Even a year later, we love taking Junie for her usual outings and joy rides to the local dog parks. Adopting Junie from the animal shelter makes Sophia so happy when we talk together and to others about how we rescued her by giving her a home and a family to love her. Junie has helped Sophia get outside more and given her a best friend to play with during her childhood. We love her and could not have picked a better pup!
