COLUMBIA COUNTY PERFORMING ARTS CENTER

BUILT FOR BROADWAY

The new Columbia County Performing Arts Center was built for Broadway. The terms “Broadway” and “Broadway Show” are often used interchangeably with theater. The geographical epicenter of these classic theatrical productions is none other than New York City’s theatre sub district. You can probably already picture it: Times Square, flashing lights, the sound of blaring horns, world-famous shops and restaurants, and the bustle of people making their way along sidewalks and across streets. Although people refer to the entire sub district as “Broadway”, only three theatres are situated on Broadway itself – Broadway Theatre, Palace Theatre, and Winter Garden Theatre. These three iconic venues are not unlike our new performing arts center in stage size or audience. With their 45-60 feet in stage depth and audiences of 1,500-1800 seats, the Columbia County Performing Arts Center actually measures up to the largest of the three!

In reality, geography has nothing to do with the designation “Broadway Show”. A show earns this name by playing to an audience of more than 500. It is completely possible to see an off-Broadway show, even on Broadway. All that to say…we qualify. We are a Broadway show venue. The great news, however, does not end here. We have managed to partner with icons in the industry - The name “Nederlander” (as in our Broadway partner) has been synonymous with great entertainment since 1912.

A show business dynasty began when David T. Nederlander, a smart young businessman living in Detroit, Michigan, purchased a 99-year lease on the Detroit Opera House. In 1964, his son, James M. Nederlander, came to New York City and purchased none other than the Palace Theatre on Broadway. If that name sounds familiar, it is because you have already read it above. the leadership of James L. Nederlander, The Nederlander Organization continues the tradition of operating historic theatres, producing and presenting the best in theatrical and concert events, and innovating new ways to engage future generations of theatergoers. This includes those right here in Columbia County, Georgia. So, what can you expect out of the next Broadway Columbia County Season? Nothing but the best. Bringing the best means that we will see some soldout shows. What is the best way to ensure that you don’t miss a thing? Become a season subscriber! Becoming a subscriber means you never miss a sold out show, you get the best seats at the best prices, you get first access to the next season’s package, and you can even make monthly payments! We can’t wait to reveal the ’22-’23 season to you. See you at the show!
