Katie Waters Whitley was raised in Columbia County, GA, and is now raising her two children here with her husband. "Columbia County Parks, Recreation, and Events has been a big part of my family's life," Katie shared. "I grew up playing sports in the county. My father was on the advisory board with Charlie Beale They both coached our teams through softball all stars." Katie was one of the first employees at the Bobby Waters Gymnasium at Patriots Park, which is named after her late father. Mr. Waters also helped start the county's Fourth of July celebrations, and Katie's family volunteered every year "Our life revolved around the parks Now my children play for Columbia County and it brings me full circle of my childhood." Columbia County Parks, Recreation and Events is proud to offer programs for the whole family that help foster the memories that will last a lifetime.
