TSO•TSI I ‘tsotsi noun

Tsotsi has a murky history as a term for a gangster.

Some say it’s a corruption of the word “zootsuit” because gangsters in the 50s were notorious for their narrow-legged and colorful suits. Others claim that it comes from this Sotho term “go tsotsa” which means “to rob”

SIES! I sies Exclamation

This exclamation may have had its origin in the Khoi exclamation, tsi!

MEAL•IE I ‘mélé’ noun

This word comes form the Afrikaans “mielie” which in turn comes from the Portuguese “milho” which in turn comes from the Laitin “millium”

GUAR•DJIE I ‘gaarchee noun

A taxi driver’s assistant, this is a blending of English and Afrikaans meaning “small guard” Goodwill Mission 2014 - From Taiwan with Love in Africa The show will be performed by children from Malawi with Malawi’s traditional dances, singing in Chinese, and Chinese Kung Fu.
