DODGING DEFEAT: Avery Jackson ‘19, Cade Cushman ‘19, Bryson Verry ‘19, Carson Moorhead ‘19 and Brandon Dickson ‘19, shout in victory as their junior dodgeball team won the annual Showdown dodgeball tournament. The upset victory of the juniors beating the seniors with a six versus one finish brought the upperclassmen section to their feet. “I get super hyped for Showdown because people put a lot of work and time just for one day and get to show it off in front of the whole school,” said Verry. “We got to go against the seniors and even though we lost [showdown] it was still fun.” Photo by: Jacqueline Meeks.
TONGUE OF WAR: Pulling with with everything he’s got, Caleb Bodin ‘21, Levi Gauerke ‘21, Ethan Mehring ‘21 and Ian Martinez ‘21 fight to keep the sophomore class from winning the competition. The freshmen team took the game seriously and practiced everyday during the week leading up to Showdown. “Everyone gets hyped for Showdown because we get to compete with the other classes, team up, have fun, cheer and be loud. DANCE OFF: Flying higher than the crowd in the bleachers, Katelyn Hovde ‘18 is carried across the gym by Jackson Smith ‘18 and Joseph Benware ‘18 during the senior Showdown dance. The practice and preparation came into play when they managed to tie with the junior class in the dance off. “It was so much fun hearing the crowd hype you up and it gave me so much energy. I encourage everyone to get involved in Showdown, especially your senior year. You’re never going to get this experience anywhere else. It’s so special to our school,” said Hodve.
