40 Year Veteran Instructor and PGA of America Master Professional Secures Third Teacher of the Year Honor, Eighth Overall

If there is anyone who emulates what it means to be a great teacher and coach, its PGA of America Master Golf Professional, Ed Oldham His 40-year history at The Ranch Country Club has been highlighted with many students who have won high school state championships, gone on to earn college scholarships within the NAIA and NCAA, and event play professionally The collective resume of his students is one to behold and evident of his incredible coaching ability.

When asked what makes a great coach, Oldham listed, “people skills, being a good communicator, and someone who really cares about their students.” He also jokingly noted that a great coach is someone who makes golfers better at golf Well that has certainly been the case for his students

Ed prides himself on always learning and adapting his teaching when he learns something valuable His list of certifications and continuing education events that he has attended could probably fill this publication by themselves He believes it is vital to instructors to never stop learning and trying to get better Part of his robust education experience has been sharing what he knows Ed has served as a mentor and coach for several Section Members and Associates over the years He has also been a speaker at Colorado Section Teaching Events, membership meetings, West Chapter events and PGM Student education.

2023 has been a big year for Oldham as he was also named to the Golf Digest Top 100 Teachers list. This news came the same week that he learned of his Teacher of the Year honor. “It was a big week,” he stated when recounting the compounding great news.
