Despite losing the Adams and Broomfield counties dual Democratic Assembly vote in March by a margin of more than 2-to-1, incumbent 17th Judicial District Attorney Dave Young held off his challenger Tuesday to remain the party’s candidate for November’s general election. In the can: Ball acquires biggest rival Beverage can producer out of Broomfield becomes biggest in the world Staff report Ball Corporation, with headquarters in Broomfield, has become the largest manufacturer of beverage cans in the world after buying out its top competitor in a multi-billion-dollar deal. Ball Corporation announced June 30 that is has closed on its pending acquisition of Great Britain’s Rexam PLC for approximately $6.1 billion of cash and equity, plus the assumption of approximately $2.4 billion of net debt. The deal makes Ball the largest company of its kind. The company also completed the required sale of the divestment business to Ardagh Group, receiving cash proceeds of approximately $3.1 billion at closing. “We’re delighted to move forward together as a leader in the packaging industry, supplying approximately 100 billion innovative, high-quality metal beverage containers from the world’s most efficient manufacturing footprint,” said John A.
