Cimarron Middle School will get a full-time resource officer P4 Tracy, a dog walker, and Kyle Hawkins, with his black dog Trinket, finish a walk along the Glendale Open Space Trail July 15. Tracy is from Golden with clients in Denver and said the Glendale Open Space is the biggest around, besides Cherry Creek, which is why it’s her favorite spot. PHOTO BY NICK PUCKETT

Kyle Hawkins goes to the Glendale Farm Open Space dog park every morning with his 10-month old black lab, Trinket. It’s near his house, a bonus, but Hawkins said he loves the size of the park and, even more importantly, the
people he meets. Hawkins lives on the east side of RidgeGate in Lone Tree. “It’s a nice, big open space,” said Hawkins, who mentioned occasionally spotting rattlesnakes at the park. The 13-acre, off-leash dog park — which is south of Lone Tree, west of Parker and north of Castle Pines
— is no secret to Douglas County residents. However, few people know how to take full advantage of the 1.6 miles of the Glendale Farm Open Space Trail, according to Greg Sprigg, who represents Lone Tree on the county’s Open Space Advisory Committee. SEE DOGS, P18
