Student enrollment in Northglenn’s public schools is something that bears watching, Adams 12 Five Star Schools Superintendent Chris Gdowski told Northglenn City Councilors Feb. 13.

Gdowski gave Northglenn City council a state of the district update at their city council meeting on listing several concerns. Declining enrollment was near the top of the list.

“Across our country, people are having fewer babies,” he said. e district has seen a decline of 3,000 students since 2018, largely due to declining birth rates.

Adams 12 also sees a growing number of nancially burdened students. In 2016, 43% quali ed free or reduced lunch. Now, that number is 50%. Northglenn Middle School has a higher number of students who qualify for free or reduced lunch at 85%., he said.

Demographics have changed, too. In 2016, 49% of students were white and 41% were Hispanic. In 2021, 44%
