Blake Sanchez met Jeffrey Range at a mutual friend’s wedding four years ago. Now, they’ve opened Westminster’s latest food truck park. Run Westy Run, equipped with tables, music, six spaces for rotating food trucks and two shipping containers selling beer and pizza, opened in June right across the street from Westminster Station. It’s the brainchild of Sanchez and Range after wanting to take on a project and seeing the available space. SEE FOOD TRUCKS, P5

Vandalism to a set of water gates on a Northglenn-owned ditch in Grand County could have been costly for residents if city employees didn’t discover the problem quickly. Northglenn city staff noted a sudden decrease in water flows into city reservoirs on June 21. Upon investigating, they discovered that four water diversion gates on Berthoud Pass were damaged, vandalized or destroyed. According to a news release from the Grand County Sheriff’s Office, Northglenn has water rights to a ditch on Berthoud Pass located in Grand County that diverts the water to the city. Diana Wilson, a spokesperson for Northglenn, said the vandals took off parts and bent them. “We’re lucky that (city staff) caught it early,” she said. If they didn’t, that could have meant monumental losses for the city. Even so, the damages are coined to be about $50,000 and may rise due to supply chain shortages. It will take about six months to repair. “That water source is easily worth hundreds of thousands of dollars to the city,” she said.
