Both Cortés and Lapierre emphasized how lucky Denver is to have a world-renowned amenco master like Heredia in the area, and hoped performances like the July 7 one would inspire people to learn amenco guitar, singing and dancing.

During the event, Movies & Music in the Park attendees scoped out dinner and/or dessert from the local vendors and bundled up for the movie. With temperatures in the low 60s and the sky sending down the occasional drizzle, many were prepared with umbrellas, rain jackets and heavy sweaters.
“Puss in Boots: e Last Wish” depicts everyone’s favorite fearless hero taking on his greatest challenge yet. With death knocking at his door — and that’s not meant metaphorically, rhetorically, poetically or theoretically — Puss seeks out the titular Last Wish, contending with both friend and foe along the way.
is iteration of the fairy tale feline takes inspiration from Spanish actor Antonio Banderas — who’s voiced Puss for almost 20 years — and his previous role as Zorro. e legendary cat enjoys singing, dancing and playing guitar for his adoring fans, and Lapierre said there’s “ avors of amenco” in his performances.
All in all, Lapierre, Heredia and the other performers were simply happy the rain held o for the July 7 event.

“I think everyone had a nice time,” Heredia continued.




e series will continue Aug. 4 with blankslate followed by “Disney’s e Strange World.” e nale will be Sept. 1 with Ghost Town Drifters, “Ghostbusters: Afterlife,” and the city’s reworks display rescheduled from the Fourth of July.
