Now’s the perfect time to get rid of all those cans of paint lingering in the basement and the electronics collecting dust in the closets.
e Rotary Club of Golden is hosting a recycling event for electronics and paint from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. July 15 in the Golden High School’s parking lot. All items are free to drop o , with the exception of TVs for $30.

Additionally, the club will accept monetary donations toward its youth programming, including scholarships and counseling services for GHS students.
Event organizer Tom Baker said the club hopes to host this annually. It had a paint recycling event last October but couldn’t host the electronics side yet.
e goal, he continued, is to help Goldenites “get rid of excess items and repurpose them in a sustainable way.” e club’s partnering with two local companies who will repurpose the paints and electronics however they can.
Baker said this goes hand-in-hand with the Rotary Club’s newest focus area — protecting the environment.
Plus, it’ll raise money for high schoolers’ scholarships and counseling services, among other youth programs. After its peach sale and golf tournament, Baker hoped to see this event become the club’s third-biggest annual fundraiser.

“It’s a great thing for people to contribute to,” Baker said of the recycling event. “They’re able to get rid of these paints and electronics that are just hanging around their house. They’re able to support youth programs and protect the environment. It’s a win-win-win.”
Along with the July 15 electronics and paint recycling event, the Rotary Club’s also accepting orders for “Peaches for a Purpose” on its website. Pick-up will be Sept. 2 at the Jeffco Fairgrounds. For more information on either event, visit GoldenRotary.org.
