A suspect has been arrested in connection with a homicide discovered last month in the Woolly Mammoth Park-n-Ride near Golden.

Donald Leroy Harris, 50, is facing a rst-degree murder charge. e victim, Matthew Hire, 57, from Denver, was found dead of a gunshot wound in his RV. A Jefferson County Sheri ’s deputy was doing a routine patrol of the lot, which is along U.S. 40 near the Interstate 70 Morrison exit, at around 3:45 p.m. on April 14. e deputy saw Hire’s RV door swinging open, went to check it and found his body inside.

Welchester Elementary School students host annual Multicultural Night

Dancing from Mexico. Food from Lebanon. Stories from Russia. Flower necklaces from Micronesia. For Welchester Elementary School students and their families, the world was at their ngertips during the school’s annual Multicultural Night on April 27. e entire school participated, as the older grades hosted exhibits in their classrooms and the younger students completed class projects beforehand.

Additionally, the school hosted a bu et-style dinner with Chinese, Mexican, Italian and Lebanese foods; folklorico dancers; a youth mariachi band and other games and crafts.

Overall, organizers said, at least 10 cultures were represented. at doesn’t account for the secondgraders, though, who each picked a country to research.

Multicultural Night has become the school’s most popular event, drawing more than 300 attendees this year.

ESL teacher Sari Warburton-Pitt described how the event used to be formatted di erently, and most participants were ESL students and families.

According to Karlyn Tilley with the Je co Sheri ’s O ce, investigators found documents belonging to Harris inside the victim’s RV. Harris was also the last person seen with Hire.
