She said that the main focus during the planning process was to include a large firework display. The event was previously held at Sweetwater Park where there were capacity limitations due to fire safety concerns about the park being enclosed and surrounded by homes. Prairie Sky Park is open on all sides, so it is safe for anyone who wants to attend the show.

Lone Tree City Council adopted a resolution June 15, which authorizes the licensing of common consumption areas to serve liquor within the Park Meadows Vistas Entertainment District. Common consumption areas are defined in the resolution’s staff report as “a type of local liquor license held by a promotional association and approved by a local authority to allow indoor or outdoor pedestrian areas within an entertainment district for the purchase and consumption of alcohol.” Jeff Holwell, director of economic development and public affairs, presented Resolution 2133 to the council. “We’re on step two tonight, which is creating an entertainment district, which is basically a boundary that would allow for a common consumption liquor license to be applied for within that district through a promotional association created by private-sector entities,” Holwell said. The City of Lone Tree is hosting its annual Independence Day Celebration on July 4, but it will be a little bit different this year. The event will be at Prairie Sky Park—9381 Crossington

Way—and will no longer require wristbands in an effort to accommodate all members of the community. Allissa Dailey, Lone Tree’s event manager, discussed the difficulties of organizing the event during the pandemic, not knowing what they would be able to pull off and dealing with budgetary restrictions. The celebration is always planned a year in advance, but this year, the event was not approved until the end of April.
