Time to Saddle Up for the 2021 Evergreen Rodeo “Re-Ride”

Hoot, holler, and kick up your heels because Evergreen’s Pro Rodeo Cowboy Association (PRCA) Rodeo event, a Father’s Day weekend tradition for 55 years in Evergreen, Colorado, returns to El Pinal Rodeo Grounds on Saturday and Sunday, June 19 and 20. A rodeo party featuring four bands will kick-off the festivities at The Little Bear on Friday, June 18. Every year Evergreen Rodeo Association’s volunteer members work diligently year-round to ensure the rodeo (a nonprofit event) puts on the best possible show for our incredible community. Consequently, rodeo fans were extremely disappointed when the 2020 Evergreen Rodeo had to be canceled because of the coronavirus pandemic. “The 2020 year was a tough year for everyone and not

OF THE MONTH being able to present the rodeo was a difficult decision, but obviously it was necessary,” said Bryan McFarland Chairman of the Evergreen Rodeo Association Board. “Last year was the first time in the 54 years that Evergreen has been producing the (PRCA) Rodeo that we have had to cancel the event. Needless to say, we are all looking forward to this year’s event, which has been dubbed the ‘2021 Re-ride.’” McFarland explained that in Rodeo terms if a rider receives a low score due to poor performance from a bull or bronc they will be given the chance to do a reride. “We just have to think of last year’s rodeo as having drawn a ‘bad bull,’” Bryan quipped.

The world of professional rodeo is an exciting sport that highlights many events that over time have developed and evolved from cattle ranching. Rodeo Weekend in Evergreen commences at 10:00am with an outstanding Saturday parade, a rousing spectacle of fanfare that marches through downtown Evergreen as a forerunner to Saturday evening and Sunday afternoon rodeo performances. The 2021 Evergreen Rodeo features quality-bred livestock and introduces and showcases national top rodeo professionals who will demonstrate their cowboy skills at riding broncos, roping calves, wrestling steers, and more! On Saturday, gates open at 3:00pm and the PRCA Pro Rodeo performance starts at 5:00pm. On Sunday, gates open at 12:00pm and the PRCA Pro Rodeo performance starts at 2:00pm.
