A historic merger of Littleton’s fire department with South Metro Fire Rescue is off to a solid start, according to a report. South Metro, a large consolidated fire district that began covering Littleton at the beginning of 2019, is firing on all cylinders, said Kevin Milan, an assistant chief with South Metro who serves as a liaison to the City of Littleton. “As far as operations, it’s going very well,” Milan told city council at their March 19 meeting. South Metro now boasts a staff of 683, including 525 “line personnel,” as well as 22 fire engines and a variety of other vehicles after the merger, according to materials provided by Milan.
