Lighting up Conifer for the holidays Chamber plans activities for shops, businesses in December BY DEB HURLEY BROBST DBROBST@COLORADOCOMMUNITYMEDIA.COM
Conifer is going to be festive for the holidays. From the annual light show at Conifer Community Church to window decorating at shops and a home decorating contest, the 285 Corridor will be filled with holiday joy in December. Melanie Swearengin, executive director of the Conifer Area Chamber of Commerce, explained that the shops’ window decorating — hopefully with lots of lights — is akin to a reverse parade since the annual Conifer Christmas Parade was canceled. Instead, officials hope residents will take advantage of the shopping opportunities businesses provide. “Even though there’s limited shop-
ping,” Swearengin said, “we still want people to shop local. That’s the idea — highlighting what’s available.” Find out what’s available and the pickup and delivery options in the chamber’s Holiday Gift Guide, which is available at goconifer.com. Residents can get in on the decorating fun, and the Conifer chamber is working with My Mountain Town to create an interactive map, so lightpeepers can find out where to look. Conifer Community Church’s annual 40,000-light display set to holiday music is a delight for everyone, and the lights are on from 5-10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday; and 5-11 p.m. Friday and Saturday. For more information on Conifer area holiday events, visit the chamber’s website at goconifer.com.
