Jeffco Open Space invites the community to attend a meeting to discuss the mouth of Clear Creek Canyon and the Peaks to Plains Trail from 6-8 p.m. Jan. 18 at the Golden Community Center, 1470 10th St. The meeting is open to the public and no registration is required. The meeting is part of the planning process for new trails and parking additions in Clear Creek Canyon — specifically, another section of the Peaks to Plains Trail just west of downtown Golden. Jeffco Open Space’s funding for this portion of the project comes from grant awards totaling $2.85 million. The grants are the Great Outdoors Colorado (GOCO) Connect Initiative Grant and the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) Transportation Alternatives Program (TAP) Grant. Additional financial contributions total $500,000. These funds come from the cities of Arvada, Golden, Lakewood and Wheat Ridge; the Apex Park and Recreation District; the Prospect Recreation and Park District; Team Evergreen; and the Jeffco Outdoors Foundation. When completed, the Peaks to Plains Trail will span 65 miles and connect the South Platte Trail in Denver to Loveland Pass. THE BOTTOM LINE PERIODICAL
‘Golden and Jeffco were starting to fall behind, as far as resources for startups. It makes sense (that) the west side should be able to participate.’ Chris Cone, Traxion co-founder | P11 INSIDE
