Republican John Kellner was confirmed the victor over Democrat Amy Padden in a close contest for 18th Judicial District attorney after the state completed a mandatory recount in the race. Kellner secured 50.12% of the vote, or 287,402 ballots, while Padden garnered 49.88%, or 285,977 votes. The district comprises Arapahoe, Douglas, Elbert and Lincoln Kellner counties. Kellner, who will succeed Republican George Brauchler, celebrated with a statement on social media. “It’s official! The recount is complete across all four counties and I’ll be taking the oath of office as the next DA of the 18th Judicial District on Jan. 12. Thank you to everyone who helped make this possible,” Kellner wrote on Twitter. Padden conceded on Dec. 5, still waiting on results from Lincoln County but expecting a final margin
