All Englewood schools now set with STEM District says it is first in Colorado to have all students covered BY ELLIS ARNOLD EARNOLD@COLORADOCOMMUNITYMEDIA.COM

Middle- and high-school students sat in a room full of technology — with a 3-D printer, iPads and small robots — as Englewood schools officials and STEM supporters spoke before showing off what the kids could do in the new lab dedicated to STEM learning. “I was using the computer when my mom and dad thought it was a passing fad,” said Tim Gill, who started the Gill Foundation, an LGBTQ advocacy organization that also gives money to education and research efforts. The Gill Foundation announced its $400,000 investment in Englewood Schools’ SmartLabs at the gathering at Bishop Elementary School Sept. 14. Gill, a software programmer and longtime tech enthusiast, said he wants Englewood students to have the skills to compete in the modern world. There was one computer at Wheat Ridge High School when he was a student there, said Gill, born in 1963.
