For the first time since its launch in 2017, Englewood’s yearly Block

Party, which drew thousands to the 3400 block of South Broadway last September, won’t happen this year. City officials made the decision on Aug. 4 and pointed to current social gathering restrictions set by the state and the Tri-County Health Department as reasons why the outdoor event was canceled. Because of the COVID-19 pan-

demic, Colorado currently allows outdoor events of up to 175 people in an area if social distancing guidelines are followed. Englewood’s Block Party featured live music, food and local business booths last year. The city estimates that at least 6,000 residents attended SEE BLOCK PARTY, P7

Kaufman’s Tall and Big Shop at 3395 S. Broadway in Englewood is offering 50% off all items in the store throughout August, with plans to close by the end of October. “There are very few places like mine in the country, and I have been getting a massive outpouring of responses from people because they don’t know where to go now,” said

Sam Kaufman, whose father, Fred, started the business in 1958. The shop offers a variety of large sizes of name-brand casual and dress suits, shirts, shoes, socks, tuxedos, swim trunks and ski jackets. Kaufman, who inherited the 7,280-square-foot building from his SEE KAUFMAN’S, P8
