Virtual reality offers look at new schools Final designs for Clayton, Hay nearing completion BY TOM MUNDS TMUNDS@COLORADOCOMMUNITYMEDIA.COM

The start of construction remains several weeks away, but those attending an April 20 town hall meeting got tours of the new Clayton Elementary School and the Charles Hay World School by means of virtual reality. Michelle Albert of project management company CBRE, who is the school district’s liaison on the project, told the audience of about 20 people that the final designs for the two buildings are almost completed. When Albert completed her comments Bruce Larson of Larson Incitti Architects and Aimee Lalone of Wold Architects and Engineers used a computer and technology to conduct the virtual reality tour of the schools. After the meeting John and Mary Mobley said they were impressed by what they heard at the meeting. “We live across the street from Clayton Elementary School and we are real excited to see progress being done,” John Mobley said. “Our grandchildren go to Clayton, which is a plus, and Mary went to Clayton. Earth Treks plans to build the largest indoor rock gym in the country in one of the former Sports Authority headquarters buildings in Englewood. “We have leased 52,000 square feet of space and plans are to begin construction in August. Our goal is to open by about the middle of 2018,” said Chris Jenkins, Earth Trek chief operating officer, said. “The ceilings are high enough to construct the boulder climbing wall but we plan to raise the roof to accommodate the rope climbing wall.” He said the facility will be similar to the company’s facility in Golden, only larger. “The Golden facility is 29,000 square feet,” Jenkins said. “Like Golden, the SEE CLIMBING, P36
