The Elbert County News reached out to local officials and asked: What are you thankful for this Thanksgiving? Chris Richardson, Elbert County commissioner “I am truly thankful for the blessings of freedom we all enjoy. I am thankful for the opportunity to have given back to our great nation through over two decades of military service and the honor of serving my local community first as a school board director and now as county commissioner. that we tend to miss their importance and just dwell on the big, maybe not so important thinks that can bog us down. “Maybe you can’t afford that new car, can’t move to that bigger house you like, maybe it’s not fair that your neighbors get to go on a cruise, all these things are wonderful but should not be the focus of what makes you happy. “Be thankful for your family and friends, be thankful to be living in the best country in the world, be thankful to our military and first responders who protect us from harm, be thankful for good health, be thankful to be in a warm house when it is cold outside, be thankful to have food on the table. “I am personally grateful to have a beautiful wife, three fantastic daughters, friends to laugh and share good times with, thankful to work in a wonderful town with people who put service before self, and grateful to have the ability to recognize all those little things that happen every minute of every day that make me smile. “Have the best Thanksgiving this year.”
