to celebrate the opening of a new affordable housing complex. The apartment building, which aims to help alleviate the high costs of housing, has a waitlist almost three times higher than the number units available. The creation of Overlook at Powers Park marks a monumental moment for South Metro Housing Options, the city’s public housing authority.

It is its first new-construction development in 30 years. “Developing affordable housing is no easy task and this development was no different,” Executive Director Corey Reitz said at the grand opening on Jan. 10. “We faced plenty of challenges, but we’re just super excited that we’ve reached the finish line.”
