Once upon a time we wrote snail mail letters to our family and friends, and counted the days before we received a reply. Our kids did their homework on printed worksheets brought home from school, and trusted the Encyclopedia Britannica to know the dates of the Civil War and the capital of Uruguay. Today we send e-mail and rely on Google and YouTube for anything we need to know. The Internet is pretty darned awesome, but it does come at a cost. Unfortunately for many individuals and families around the world, Internet access is an unaffordable luxury, and our community is no exception. About two years ago Clear Creek Broadband (CCB) was launched to provide reliable Internet service in Clear Creek County and Evergreen area at a lower cost than competitors. With more than six hundred subscribers CCB continues to expand, but for some who struggle financially, it is still unaffordable without help. Enter the Colorado Broadband Foundation (CBF). This non-profit organization’s mission is to raise funds to assist those in need in the CCB serviced community and other local families to receive subsidies for Internet service.
