Incumbents elected to metro district board

e May 2 election for the Highlands Ranch Metro District Board of Directors was a sweep for the incumbent candidates, who prevailed in all three races.

e uno cial results for the election show voters chose Renee Anderson, Andy Jones and Nancy Smith to ll the three seats for the next four years.
Anderson, who recently served as chair of the metro district and ran unopposed, received 1,869 votes and will continue to represent the Southwest Director Region. For the North Central Director Region, incumbent Andy Jones received 1,733 votes and will be serving a consecutive term. Opponent James E. Freiberg received 535 ere were three candidates run- ning for the Northeast Director Region. Incumbent Nancy Smith won with 1,474 votes. Homar Alvarado followed Smith with 826 votes and Bradford Mark Wann got 236 votes. e other four seats on the seven-member board, which were not up for election this cycle, are held by Mark Dickerson, Eric T. Rysner, Carolyn Schierholz and David Simonson. e canvass board will meet to certify the election results on May 10.

Metro District Board members represent the people of Highlands Ranch by setting policy. e board also aids the metro district sta in budget preparation, construction of storm drainage facilities and major roads, maintenance of roadway landscaping, and construction and management of open space, parks and trail systems as well as outdoor recreation programming, according to the metro district website.
