Allan P. Crawfurd, first president of Arapahoe Community College, could never have imagined that the college would livestream its 50th anniversary party from the trendy new cafe on its Littleton campus to its Parker and Castle Rock locations — or even imagined what “livestream”

might mean. Today, ACC’s students can learn all about livestreaming and pretty much anything else they want: nursing, law enforcement, mortuary science, retail management, psychology, automotive service … the list goes on and on. “It’s such an honor to get to carry on its legacy,” said Diana Doyle, current president, during the celebration on May 5, exactly 50 years since the local election that created the college in 1965. “ACC has such a rich history, and we have every intention of keeping that intact as we move forward.” ACC continues on Page 12

Superintendent search continues School board will announce selection at May 15 special meeting By Tom Munds

tmunds@colorado communitymedia.com The three finalists in the search for the next Englewood School superintendent spent May 8 and 9 touring the district, going through interviews and having the opportunity to meet many members of the community. “The weekend events are part of the search process, and it is going well,” Duane Tucker, school board president, said. “Our plans are to reach a decision on our choice so we can make the announcement May 15.” The timeline is to announce the board’s choice for the new superintendent at a special meeting at 6:30 p.m. on May 15 in the board room at the school administration building, 4100 S. Bannock St. The board narrowed the list of candidates to three finalists: Michael Lynch, Brian Recht and Wen-

dy Rubin. A fourth finalist, Stephen Schiel, who is the district administrator for Wisconsin’s Amery School District, elected to withdraw from Rubin the search. The search for a new superintendent was launched in March, when current Superintendent Brian Ewert announced he was leaving Recht Englewood to accept the position of superintendent for Littleton Public Schools. The three finalists spent much of May 8 touring the school district and the Lynch c o m m u n i t y. The next day, each candidate was interviewed individually by three committees.
