Castle Rock’s State of Town highlights landmark year Mayor Jason Gray says 2021 is better than 2020 BY THELMA GRIMES TGRIMES@COLORADOCOMMUNITYMEDIA.COM
In a different format this year,
the Castle Rock 2021 State of the Town event featured some of Mayor Jason Gray speaking about the town’s accomplishments and a lot of videos promoting what has happened and what is still to come. In opening the Oct. 7 event at Phillip S. Miller Park, Gray said there were not a lot of good things
happening in 2020, but in 2021, progress was made. In recognizing the town’s continued accomplishments, Gray said none of it could have happened without having a dedicated town staff. SEE TOWN, P4

Castle Pines residents are voting for mayor and three city council seats in the election that ends Nov. 2. In the mayor’s race, Tara Radloff is seeking reelection. Challenging Radloff are councilmember Tracy Engerman and Castle Pines North Metro District President David McEntire. Council seats are also on the ballot in District 1 (the far northwest part of the city), District 2 (northwest and west Castle Pines) and District 3 (south and east areas, including The Canyons east of I-25). In District 1, Councilmember Chris Eubanks is running unopposed as Melissa Coudeyras opted not to run for re-election. In District 2, incumbent Ben Price faces challenger Chuck Lowen. And in District 3, incumbent councilmember Roger Hudson is challenged by Merri Sheh. The News-Press sent questionnaires to each candidate to help voters learn more about them. We asked why they’re running, what qualifies them for office and what their priorities would be if elected. Turn inside for our candidate Q&As. Our Q&As with Douglas County school board candidates appeared in last week’s paper, and they’re online at douglascountynewspress.net.
