The second Saturday in November each year, Georgetown, Colorado celebrates one of the biggest and oldest bighorn sheep herds in the state of Colorado. Partly for the education, partly to facilitate wildlife watching at the peak of breeding season and partly a fun excuse to get together as a community, the annual festival offers something for everyone.

Idaho Springs’ proposed 1% sales tax has failed by two votes in the Nov. 2 election, according to the most recent count by the Clear Creek County Clerk & Recorder’s Office. The city’s marijuana excise tax measure also passed by two votes. After the last ballots were tallied on Nov. 10, the sales tax measure count stood at 279 votes for it and 281 votes against it. The marijuana excise tax similarly was 283 for and 281 against. The races were too close to call on and directly after election night. On Nov. 3, the marijuana excise tax was at 272 votes for it and 271 against it. The sales tax measure was at 269 votes for it, 270 against it.
