Larkspur hires outside company to evaluate proposed truck stop o I-25

Larkspur has hired an engineering company to act as the arm of the town that will evaluate the proposal for a new truck stop, a potential project that has drawn opposition from area residents.
An online petition started on April 5 on Change.org — titled “Stop the Truck Stop in Larkspur, CO” — garnered 1,772 signatures as of Aug. 4.
A description on the petition argues there is “inadequate infrastructure to support the dramatic increase in tra c that will be created from the regular in ux of 80’ long vehicles” entering the truck stop.
Most of that high a total of petition signatures could not have come from residents in Larkspur, a small town of about 200 residents south of Castle Rock. It’s possible that some number of people who signed the petition live in the broader area.
One comment on the petition from a user named Donna Baiocco said: “I’m concerned about the terrible pollution that this would bring into and around our homes.”
Another comment, from user Jo- seph Ramelo, said: “I don’t even live there but I think it’s a terrible idea as well. I was raised on the east coast where there are truck and rest stops galore.”
Asked for comment on the petition, the town said in a statement: “ e town appreciates the input of Larkspur residents and the greater 80118 community.” ough the potential big development in a small rural town has riled up many members of the public, there seems to be little standing in
