Castle Rock council members approved a number of resolutions related to road projects in town during their April 5 meeting. To move forward with the widening of Ridge Road from two lanes to four lanes between Colorado Highway 86 and Plum Creek Parkway, the council approved a construction contract with Schmidt Construction Company for work not to exceed $4.2 million. Additionally, the town will manage $425,525 in contingency funds. “This is a big milestone for the project on Ridge Road and this is one of our major priorities to widen this road,” Director of Public Works Dan Sailer said. The town had originally budgeted $5.6 million for the project, but Sailer said the bids came in under what was expected. The project consists of adding two southbound lanes and adjusting the two roundabouts at Endured Boulevard and Plum Creek Parkway for the new lanes. The northbound lanes will get asphalt maintenance and stripping reconfiguration. “We’re really widening the roadway to help increase the capacity,” Sailer said. Bicycle lanes, flashing crosswalks and a raised median will also be added to the section of Ridge Road being widened. With the construction contract
