Castle Rock is a thriving community, but the Town’s western heritage is alive and well. Don’t miss a weekend full of activities to celebrate the community’s history and honor a longstanding tradition — the Douglas County Fair and Rodeo.

e Western Heritage Welcome Cattle Drive kicks o the celebration and honors a time when large herds of cattle were driven through Downtown Castle Rock. Cowboys and city folk alike are invited to join the celebration from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, July 28.

Watch as cowhands drive a herd of Texas longhorns from Rock Park, down Perry Street, and into a corral near Festival Park. Residents are invited to grab a spot along Perry Street for the best viewing location. More information is available at CRgov.com/WesternHeritage.

Following the cattle drive, mosey on over to Festival Park for a variety of western-themed activities — mine for gold, take a photo with a Brahma Bull from Kodiak Ranch and more. Food and cocktails will also be available for purchase. e weekend celebration continues with the Fair and Rodeo Parade at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, July 29. e old-fashioned parade starts on the south end of e Douglas County Fair and Rodeo runs through Aug. 6. Starting at 5 a.m., parking will not be available on Perry Street. Parking will also be closed at Rock Park. At 4:30 p.m., Perry Street will be closed from Scott Street to South Street. Please keep safety in mind, and stay behind the protective barriers along Perry Street.
