Light of Hope postponed

COVID-19 forced a postponement of the fundraiser for Court Appointed Special Advocates. The new date is April 19 at the Omni Interlocken Hotel.

The event aims to increase awareness about CASA and recruit volunteers while funds to continue providing advocacy for children who have experienced abuse and neglect.

Brian Mason, the district attorney in the 17th Judicial District, is hosting “Coffee with the DA” from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 26, at the Reunion Coffee House, 10601 Reunion Parkway, Commerce City.

Redistricting

Commerce City is beginning the process of redistricting, a project that will take up much of the next year.

The city is offering a governance surveyr to get resident feedback about the makeup and structure of seats on city council and resdistricting of the city’s wards.

Mayors/commissioners youth awards

Adams County mayors and the county commissioners are looking for nominations for this year’s youth awards.

It focuses on teenagers who have triumphed over great odds and serve as an inspiration and role models for their peers, according to a statement. The statement also said this program provides businesses, the community and civic leaders an opportunity to actively demonstrate their support for the young people in our community and recognize them for their accomplishments. Businesses may also help by making a monetary or in-kind donation.

The nominations are open to sixth- through 12th-graders. The deadline for nominations is Monday, Jan. 31.

Vaccination clinic

Adams County and the Tri-County Health Department are o ering free vaccination clinics from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Anythink Commerce City, 7185 Monaco St.

cardiac rehab team and Walk With A Doc will host monthly walks with Dr. Christopher Cannon, interventional cardiologist at Brighton Heart and Vascular Institute.

This is a walking program for everyone interested in taking steps for a healthier lifestyle. After a few minutes to learn about a current health topic from the doctor, spend the rest of the hour enjoying a healthy walk and fun conversation. It’s a great way to get out, get active and enjoy all the benefi ts that come from walking.

Boards/commissions’ openings

Legal self-help clinic

The Access to Justice Committee hosts a free, legal self-help clinic from 2 to 3:30 p.m. the fi rst Tuesday of every month.

The program is for those who don’t have legal representation and need help navigating through legal issues.

Volunteer attorneys are available to discuss such topics as family law, civil litigation, property and probate law. Call 303-405-3298 and ask for the Legal Self-Help Clinic at least 24 hours in advance.

Qualifi ed Listeners, a veteran and family resource hub serving northern Colorado and southern Wyoming, has a number of power chairs, power scooters and electric wheelchairs available.
