It doesn’t matter where Danthony Muniz lands, whether it’s his home in Brighton or the 303 Training Center in Westminster: His long-time interest in martial arts has turned into a professional contract.

“My first pro match was Oct. 30,” he said. “I was able to put on very dominant performances. I took both matches over submission with an armbar and a bow-and-arrow choke. The feeling I had after I won the finals was so immaculate.”

Muniz, 20, is also a fan of Ultimate Fighting.

“I was always very interested in martial arts I would always watch the UFC and I wanted to pursue something of that nature,” he said. “So, I walked into a local Jiu Jitsu gym that goes by the name of Frontline Wrestling and Jiu-Jitsu. That was about six years ago.”

“The main reason I wanted to go pro is because I want to have the chance to take care of my family, and I also want to make a living off doing something that I am passionate about,” he said. “Since I began Jiu-Jitsu, I haveseen a lot of growth, and I have also come to see you can achieve anything you put your mind to.”

Part of that growth is “a ton of selfconfidence” through martial arts.

“I have unlocked a whole new side to me, and it feels amazing,” he said. “I can truly say that doing martial arts has kept my head on straight and has saved me from a lot of things.”
