Richard M. Horth

June 6, 1931 - November 2, 2021 Richard M. Horth was born in Brighton on June 6, 1931 to Merwyn Horth and Helen L. (Jung) Horth. He graduated from Brighton High School in 1949. He married his childhood sweetheart Melba Bredehoft on September 2, 1956, and they lived on the family wheat farm east of Brighton, where they lived until moving to Brighton in 2008. Survived by his son, Craig Horth; two daughters, Carol (Doug) Groves, Brighton and Karen (Brent) Biggs, Vail; six grandchildren, Jodi, Sarah, Shelby, Katelyn, Brian, Eric; and seven great grandchildren, Dylan, Drew, Jacob, Adelyn, Elizabeth, Karrisa and Averlee. He is preceded in death by his wife, Melba; brother Ronald; and his father when he was ve years old. His mother, now deceased, remarried to John Timmerman, also deceased. A lifetime member of Zion Lutheran Church, Richard was baptized on July 26,1931 and con rmed on March 25, 1945. He served as an usher for many years and on the Board for Parish Education for a number of years. Richard served in the US Army during the Korean War where he took his training in Virginia Beach, Virginia, then partook in Operation Blue Jay in ule Bay, Greenland and then was sent to Pusan, Korea. He was nominated for the Commendation Ribbon for Meritorious Service for his work in G3 Division of the 2nd Logistical Command. After returning stateside he together with his brother in partnership operated the family farm and received several awards for their e orts in pioneering conservation tillage including the Goodyear Farmer of the Year award. ey also worked with CSU in developing new wheat varieties. He gave of his time serving the community by being on the board of directors of the Farm Bureau, and of Adams County Co-op Credit Union, and of the local Colorado Wheat Growers Association. He also served on the Adams Area Fire Protection Board of Directors and as chairman he with the board began the process of funding for the new Fire Station at the Great Rock development. Richard fondly remembered the many family retreats to the family cabin at Red Feather Lakes and all the sh caught, and later with his wife and children for many years. Together with Melba they belonged to the Square Hoppers square dance club, Colorado Flying Farmers Club and the Colorado Excel campers club where they enjoyed many “Flyins” and “Campouts”! Together they enjoyed traveling to many destinations in the United States in their private plane, in their Fifth Wheel RV and United Airlines where their daughter Carol is employed. ey also became world travelers and traveled to Costa Rica, New Zealand, Australia, Germany and Austria. ey also went on several cruises. ey especially enjoyed the Big lsland, Hawaii and Kauai where they had a time share. ln the winter time they “snowbirded” in Apache Junction, Arizona for almost 30 years where they had many friends and enjoyed square dancing. Before long, Melba’s sister, Joyce & Ed Harshbarger came to the same park to share the sunshine. Richard learned to enjoy life to the fullest, and loved the Lord and his farming and his family and getting together with family on holidays, as well as, watching his grandchildren and great grandchildren grow. He was an excellent role model for them! Memorial Services honoring Richard will be on Saturday, November 13, 2021, beginning at 11:00 a.m., at Zion Lutheran Church, Brighton, CO. TRUDELL

Mary Louise Trudell (Butch)

September 16, 1932 - November 1, 2021 Mary was born September 16, 1932 to Alene and George Newman in Padroni, Colorado on her grandparent’s homestead. She was raised in Sterling, Colorado and graduated from Sterling High School in 1949. Her love for the eastern plains of Colorado was one she carried with her throughout her life. She married Larry L. Trudell in 1954. ey lived in Denver, CO before moving to Commerce City, CO where they raised their children and she worked as a Teaching Assistant at Rose Hill Elementary. e pair enjoyed traveling and took many trips together. In 1985, they moved to Henderson, CO. Mary was a erce matriarch who dedicated her life to her family. She raised six children and two grandchildren. ere was always a relative on the phone, a car in the driveway, or a grandkid playing in the yard at “Gram’s”. She enjoyed cultivating her ower and rose garden and was an avid reader. On November 1, 2021, Mary passed away peacefully at home at the age of 89, surrounded by her family. Mary was preceded in death by her parents; and daughter, Valerie L Trudell. She is survived by her husband, Larry L. Trudell; children, Pamela K. Trudell, Larry C. (Sherri) Trudell, Steven L. (Sherri) Trudell, Alan D. (Loraine) Trudell, and Laura J. (Charlie) Frye; as well as, grandchildren, Heather R. (Clint) Corken, Sonia M. Trudell, Stacey M. Trudell, Monique A. Trudell, Hanna C. Trudell, Katherine L. (Michael) Hart, Garrett A. Trudell; and great-grandchildren, Valerie R. Luna and Stacey B. Trudell. Visitation is Monday, November 15, 2021, beginning at 10:00 a.m., with Services following at 11:00 a.m., all at St. Elizabeth’s Episcopal Church, 76 South 3rd Avenue, in Brighton, CO 80601. September 8, 1958 - October 18, 2021 Roachelle passed on October 18th 2021. She was in Brighton Colorado where she lived her life, Brighton High School class of 1976. Roachelle followed her mother attending Beauty Academy at LaMon’s in 1982, after which she worked at the LynRic Beauty Salon with her mom until it closed. She spent years working with the City of Brighton planning the Parade of Lights and CultureFest, worked as an election judge for many years, she was a paraprofessional for 27J, and loved serving her community as a waitress at L&Z restaurant. She never knew a stranger, her kind smile and infectious laugh were known among many. No one can remember her without remembering her love of Mickey Mouse, her namesake and “Hero.” Roachelle is survived by her husband Frank; children Richard Shoen (Melissa), Frank DeShane III and Sarah DeShane (Jonathan Green); grand-children Xavier and Orion Shoen.; and numerous family members and friends. Services to be held at the Brighton Church of Christ on Egbert Street on November 13th at 1 o’clock.

WAGNER

Eugene “Gene” Wagner

November 13, 1936 – October 29, 2021 Gene, 84, of Ft. Lupton, CO, was born on November 13, 1936 in Berthoud, Colorado to Jake & Mary Katherine Wagner. Gene grew up in the Brighton area and graduated from Brighton High School. Gene married Shirley VonFeldt on September 6, 1958 at St. Williams Catholic Church. ey lived on Gene’s family farm until 1969 when they purchased their own farm in Ft. Lupton. ere Gene & Shirley spent a majority of their days raising their family, tending to the farm, and making the most out of every day they had together. Gene’s passion was ranching and dairy farming, he loved being outdoors with his animals and raising crops. Gene served in the National Guard for 7 years, served as president and director for Lupton Bottom & Lupton Meadow Ditch Company, was active in his church, a regular goose hunter, and a Denver Broncos season ticket holder since 1977. Gene will be remembered by his caring nature, wittiness, charming smile, and by the friends he made everywhere he went. Gene is survived by his wife of 63 years, Shirley; children, Paige (Larry) Wagner-Maul and Jerry (Tawnya) Wagner; grandchildren, Madison Marrs, Morgan Wagner, Lindsey (Aaron) Hernandez and Brad Maul; great grandchildren, Ella and Declan Hernandez; and niece, Connie Holloway. Gene is preceded in death by his parents and siblings. e family would like to express their deepest thank you for the care of Gene to Bristol Hospice and Avamere Health Care Center. Services honoring Gene are Friday, November 12, 2021 with Rosary beginning at 10:30 a.m. and Mass to follow at 11:00 a.m., all at St. William Catholic Church, in Fort Lupton, CO. WATKINS

Floyd A. Watkins

February 16, 1944 - October 26, 2021 Floyd A. Watkins, 77 of Fort Lupton passed away Tuesday, October 26, 2021 at Platte Valley Medical Center in Brighton. He was born February 16, 1944 to Robert Lee and Lucille Elousia (Starkey)Watkins In Denver, Co. He grew up in Denver and Greeley area. Floyd served in the U.S. Army from 1967 until 1973. Floyd had worked as a bouncer at the Alamosa Inn, was a rancher, built homes with Giest Homes of Greeley, worked at Iron and Metals of Denver, and most recently with Alpha Energy, Inc. in Greeley. Floyd worked with Sonny ( Eugene) Glover as a welder. Floyd is survived by his children, Anita Watkins of Fort Lupton, Tracy Watkins and ancé Barb Anderson Of Hooper, Co. and Izzy Suggs of Fort Lupton; his siblings, Tommy Watkins of Greeley, Austin Watkins and wife Khamkong of Denver, Shirley Hughes and Husband Weldon of Lovington, NM, and Mary Cream and husband John of Cleveland, Ga. Survivors also include 5 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his son Scott, his grandson Travis Anderson, and his sisters Bonnie Prante and Norretta Chestnut and Brother Donald Watkins. Herbert Seader

October 1, 2001 - October 11, 2021 Herbie was born in Brighton and was adopted as a stray by Rachel. His life started hard and he carried scars and a BB bullet in his chest from his early time outside. After being adopted, he enjoyed and enriched the relationships he had with his family including his dad Jeremy, brother Mitchell, and sister Sheila, as well as his extended family. For 20 good years he was tough, loving, funny, and ercely loved. e world is a little less bright these days without this precious orange tabby.
