Congratulations, Lobos! Conifer High School seniors gathered May 21 in the gymnasium for graduation. The ceremony was originally planned to happen outside, but a snowstorm the day before forced them to move it inside. A sea of green looked on as seniors and staff shared memories, performances and words of advice. Conifer High School senior Paul DeStefano started his graduation speech on May 21 the same way he started the morning announcements he made over the loudspeaker for the last year, “Good morning PHOTO BY SARA HERTWIG Conifer!” See more photos from the Conifer High School graduation on page 5.

The luck of the draw had a special meaning for two candidates running for the Elk Creek Fire Protection District board of directors. Dominique Devaney and Chuck Newby were tied with 179 votes after the May 3 election, and by a drawing, Newby won the election.
