This year’s Mountain Area Science and Engineering Fair was a place to learn things. The projects’ topics were as varied as the student scientists conducting the experiments. At the April 22 fair at Bergen
Valley Elementary School, judges and attendees found that students learned that tapping soda cans before opening them does not change the amount of fizz in the cans; wolves’ territory can be determined based on available data; the boiling point of water decreases as altitude SEE SCIENCE, P4

A rezoning proposal to allow for 14 lodging units on Nob Hill in El Rancho got a positive recommendation from the Jefferson County Planning Commission. The Jeffco commissioners will decide on May 3 whether to rezone eight acres from planned development that allowed commercial and light industrial to a new planned development that will be residential on the south side of Evergreen Parkway. Mike Chadwick with Chadwick Land Entitlements, who represented the owners, said the lodging units would be congregated and under professional management. The owners have the option to turn them into single-family homes. An existing duplex on the property will remain. The proposal calls for each unit’s SEE NOB HILL, P3
