And, while grants are important for large mitigation projects, EFR wildland fire officials said there was a lot homeowners could do without grant money that would begin preparing properties here in case of wildfire. They also are planning the next group meeting at which leaders will create goals specific to the areas they represent. The officials recently met with leaders from the fire district’s 26 Community Wildfire Protection Implementation Plan units — called ambassadors — to roll out what Reduction Risk Coordinator Jess Moore called the reinvented and freshened-up 2022 fire mitigation program.

THORNTON — Winning a fourth straight Class 3A girls swimming state title might have looked a little questionable for Evergreen on Feb. 12 at the Veterans Memorial Aquatics Center. However, the Cougars knew a wave of teams’ points were coming
in the final few events. “We knew we were OK,” Evergreen coach Lisa Morrow said about the Cougars trailing Discovery Canyon through three of 12 events. “We are pretty strong in the back half in the fly, breast and backstroke.” Evergreen overtook Discovery Canyon in the race for the team title after the 10th event — 100 backstroke final. Sophomore Finley Anderson won her second individual title on the night with a time of 27.25 seconds. Freshman teammate Maya Patel placed seventh to rack up some valuable team points.
