The term, “It takes a village” was never so true for Elk Run Assisted Living on Dec. 18 when a malfunctioning sprinkler flooded a portion of the building, necessitating the evacuation and relocation of the 48 residents for two days. The list of organizations that helped is long: Evergreen Fire/Rescue, Jeffco Sheriff’s deputies, Jeffco Public Schools, Life Care Center of Evergreen, Comfort Suites, Mount Evans Hospice, residents’ families, staff and more. Despite everything that was going on, Elk Run staff says there were still smiles among residents, staff and helpers. While no one was in the building over the weekend, residents returned on Dec. 20 and 21. One apartment and its contents were destroyed by the water, the dining room will take major renovations and other apartments need repairs. Electricians, cleaners, drywallers and other craftspeople have come to the rescue. Stacee Martin, EFR spokeswoman, said firefighters were impressed
