Starting a new school year Principals excited for in-person learning, construction projects

Meet the foothills’ new principals
BY DEB HURLEY BROBST DBROBST@COLORADOCOMMUNITYMEDIA.COM
Principals at foothills schools have two themes as school starts this week: engaging students in in-person learning, and getting through building construction and renovation. “We want to really reconnect with our community,” said Kristen Hyde, principal at The Bergens. “Last year was really isolating for our families. We want to reconnect with families and really create a sense of belonging.” In addition, most foothills schools are in the middle of construction and improvements thanks to a bond approved by voters in 2018. Principals are happy for the positive structural changes to their buildings and playgrounds. Wilmot Elementary and Conifer High School have completed their additions, while Parmalee Elementary’s addition is supposed to open this week, and Evergreen Middle School hasn’t started construction yet. Marshdale Elementary is getting a new school just south of the current building, set to open in August 2022. SEE PRINCIPALS, P17
