Roll-in ceremonies
Brighton Fire Rescue District is putting together three roll-in ceremonies to celebrate the arrival of new fi re engines.
The programs are at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 30, at 16681 E. 120th Ave.; and at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 6, at 15939 Havana St.
A roll-in ceremony involves transferring water from an old engine to a new one. According to an Instagram post, children then get to “wash the wheels” of the new engine, followed by pushing the new fi re truck into its bay.

Road work
Brighton’s public works department will be doing road maintenance repairs on Weld County Road 31 early next month.
WCR 31 will be closed from WCR 4 to Wagon Wheel Drive from Aug. 1 to Aug. 5. The following week, WCR 31 will be closed from WCR 2 to Wagon Wheel Drive. Detours will be in place. No truck traffi c will be allowed.

Brighton Oasis
The Brighton Oasis Family Aquatic Park is heading into its endof-season schedule. The water park will not be open weekdays after Aug. 8, but will remain open on weekends until September 5 (Labor Day).
Full moon bike rides
The city of Brighton’s Full Moon Bike rides returns this summer with a new addition — an advanced rider group and a recreational rider group for each ride. The two groups start at different times.
According to a city news release, advanced riders are “strong and fearless bicyclists or enthused and confi dent bicyclists.” Recreational riders “are confi dent in their safety or people who would enjoy bicycling if they felt safer doing it.”
The meeting area is on the south side of Brighton City Hall, 500 S. Fourth Ave.
The schedule looks like this:
Thursday, Aug. 11: Sturgeon Moon. Sign up from 5:30 to 6 p.m., and the event starts at 6 p.m. Advanced riders start at 6:15 p.m., and recreational riders begin 10 minutes later.

The Court Appointed Special Advocates program in Adams County is hosting an evening in old Hollywood from 5:30 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 14, at Balistreri Vineyards, 1946 E. 66th Ave.

The City of Brighton’s last Trash Bash for the year is the weekend of Friday, Sept. 23, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Brighton Wastewater Treatment Facility, 325 N. Kuner Road. Those with special needs can call the city for pick-up service Wednesday, Sept. 21, and Thursday, Sept. 22.

Gummball 5K

Road work
Construction along Weld County road 2 (crews are widening the south side of Baseline Road) means road closures through Aug. 15.
The work includes new roadway pavement, curb-and-gutter work, a sidewalk and related infrastructure, the city said. Construction will occur from King Street to East 60th Avenue in a two-phase approach, then tie into an area east of East 60th Avenue.
The fi rst of two phases continues through Friday, July 15. The second phase runs from July 15 to Monday, Aug. 15.
