BIENVENIDO A MEXICOBIENVENIDO A MEXICOBIENVENIDO A MEXICO QUINTANA ROO • THE COASTAL AREA OF MEXICO IS HOME TO BEACHES AND MAYAN CULTURE

Located on the eastern part of the Yucatan peninsula, Mexico’s most eastern state, Quintana Roo is miles of beaches, which are perfect for days of leisure.

TULUM

This is said to be one of the last cities built by the Mayans, where they inhabited between the 13th and 15th centuries. Today, known as Riviera Maya, the popular tourist spot of Tulum is a draw with ancient ruins, cenotes and beautiful sandy beach shores. Whether sight-seeing, laying on the beach, ATV rides, zip lining or eating is the activity of choice, the backdrop scenery is a gorgeous blue sky that meets even bluer water.

The centrally located Dune Boutique Hotel Tulum, where inspirational signs are placed around the property such “Train your mind to see the good in every situation,” provides a variety of choice of rooms, a beachside restaurant and a little sanctuary to rest your head at the end of each day.

A NEW MOON

Dune Boutique Hotel Tulum honors Mayan rituals with moon ceremonies. “Every 28-30 days, the universe invites us to pause and ask ourselves what we’re manifesting in our lives. And it does so through the arrival of the monthly full moon.” Full moons in Malibu include March 31, April 30 and May 30.

DURING A NEW MOON Do: Try something new; dance to release energy; let go of baggage Don’t: Quit something you care about; make rash decisions; avoid new people For more suggestions visit: dunehoteltulum.com/ moon-ceremonies/

CANCUN

Less than two hours from Tulum, Cancun is a mecca of vacation spots with its white sand beaches. Marriott Cancun Resort is located in the heart of Cancun’s Hotel Zone. As rustic as Tulum is, Cancun is a busy beach city. As soon as you walk in the resort, “The Great Room” greets you complete with an impressive collection of Mexican whiskeys and mezcals.

When not sunning or swimming, Marriott Cancun Resort is located close to the area’s main attractions such as Isla Mujeres, The Mayan Museum, shopping malls, Coco Bongo, the market (haggling required) and downtown Cancun. The resort’s newly renovated rooms and suites feature beachinspired décor, private balconies and marble bathrooms.
