SPORTS CAPITAL FUNDING: NATIONAL POLICY, LOCAL WINS I am a keen advocate of sports both nationally and locally in our community. Investing in sport plays a vital role in investing in our community. I want to ensure that our community groups get every help they need to secure Sports Capital Grant funding. Between 2013 and 2016, over €1 million has been allocated in Sports Capital Investment in our community. Among some of the big local beneficiaries of the 2015 Sports Capital Grant were St. Judes G.A.A Club, Templeogue Tennis Club and Thomas Davis G.A.A Club who each received €150,000. Some other local groups to benefit included St. Mary’s Rugby Club, Fortunestown Swimming Club and Tallaght Martial Arts.

These projects are vital to our community and I will work with them and others to ensure investment continues. Sports are at the heart of our community, and my sincere congratulations and admiration go to those involved on the committees of these clubs, who devote their time voluntarily each week. I have no doubt that these grants will allow the clubs to prosper for a great many years to come, and I look forward to seeing these projects coming to fruition and playing any part I can.

organisation If you believe your club or orts Capital might be entitled to a Sp e to find out Grant or if you would lik tion process more about the applica I will arrange please contact me and and discuss a time to meet with you this further.

Brophy urges Soccer fans to apply for free European Health Insurance Card before travelling to Euro ‘16

With only a few weeks to go until Ireland’s opening group match with Sweden, thousands of fans are planning to travel. Medical treatment can be very expensive abroad. That’s why I’m asking traveling fans to get their free European Health Insurance Cards

now. As Irish residents we are entitled to get healthcare through the public system in France, or any other European country, if we become ill or injured while on a temporary stay. But you must have a European Health Insurance Card or EHIC (formerly known as the E111) to access health care services. One card is needed for each individual or member of the family and it’s free to apply and receive the card. All you have to do to get your card is fill in your name, address, date of birth and PPS online on a HSE website (https://www.sspcrs.ie/portal/ehic/welcome. do). Once you have these basic details your card will be posted out to you free of charge. If you have a smartphone, you can also download the free EHIC App, to help you contact health services in Europe. As fans get ready to travel to France to support the boys in green, now is the time to apply for the free European Health Insurance Card. A few minutes online can save a lot of money if fans have an accident or become ill in France.
