Tout sur moi All about me As well as being able to say hello to someone and tell them your name – Bonjour, je m’appelle… Hello, my name is… – you might want to talk about how old you are. Bonjour! Je m’appelle André. (Hello, my name is André.) Comment tu t’appelles? (What’s your name?) J’ai huit ans. Et toi? (I’m eight. What about you?)
Salut! Je m’appelle Emma. (Hi, my name is Emma.)
Quel âge as-tu? (How old are you?)
J’ai onze ans. (I’m eleven.)
When you are talking about your age, use the phrase J’ai… [zhay] which actually means I have… in French, for example, J’ai neuf ans. You will be saying the equivalent of “I have nine years”. It is important to say the French word ans [ong], otherwise you could be talking about nine of anything! To ask someone else’s age, say Quel âge as-tu? [kell azh a too]. Track 1
Make finger puppets or draw faces on your fingers and give each one a name and age. Have a conversation between your fingers or with a partner’s fingers.
