Write the Roman numerals in figures means write them in numbers, for example, 9. Remember that X is 10, V is 5 and I is 1. You also need to know that if a letter for a smaller number is before a letter for a larger number you have to subtract the smaller number from the larger number. Therefore:

IX is 10 – 1 = 9
