Tumbling for Tots

Jo-Ann’s Little Dancers

This class teaches the fundamentals of gymnastics on a floor mat while developing flexibility and strength. Children learn sports skills such as catching, throwing, and kicking. Classes build selfesteem and create group interaction skills.

These classes develop poise and coordination while teaching the fundamentals of ballet and tap. Classes enhance group interaction skills and support your child’s self-esteem and positive image. Children also develop rhythm and music appreciation skills. Students may wear a leotard, tights, and ballet and/or tap shoes.

Cross Stitch for Kids Cross stitch is the oldest form of embroidery. Learn this timeless needlecraft art form through the explanation of fabric, needles, thread, and designs. Students learn to read cross stitch patterns, work cross stitches along with backstitches and French knots. Class includes a design chart, fabric, needle, thread, and hoop. YOUTH CLASSES Super Tots- Hoopster Skills Hoopster Skills is a development program using a variety of fun games to engage kids while teaching the sport of basketball and developing fundamental skills. Super Tots- Soccer Touch Soccer Tots is the flagship program of the Super Tots Sports program! Playable on almost any surface, these soccer-themed motor skills classes make it easy for youngsters to find success. Younger groups focus on developing motor skills and self-confidence; older children focus on developing core soccer skills, personal focus, and early exposure to an element of light competition. Instructor-to-student ratio is kept small to maximize individual development, and above all else the program promotes fun, fun, fun! YOUTH CLASSES Summer Volleyball League The league is designed to introduce young ladies to the game of volleyball. It was created to provide a safe, fun environment to learn the basic premise of the game through practices, teaching the fundamental volleyball skills, sport ethics, and league competition. A team will consist of a minimum of eight players and a maximum of 12 players. Teams will practice an hour each week. Players receive a team t-shirt. Registration can be completed online or in person. To register, the team coach must contact the Recreation Department at 817.503.1180 with their team information. At that time, the coach will be given a team code to give to their team to register. Registering as an individual or a free agent does not guarantee your child a spot on a team. A coach must volunteer in order for a team of free agents to be formed. If and when a coach volunteers, a staff member will contact individuals with team information. If you would like to coach, please call 817.503.1180 for more details. Registration: May 2-June 3 Practices will begin the week of June 20. Games will begin on Saturday, June 25. SUMMER CAMPS Speed Sports and Agility

Minecraft Engineering using LEGO

A fun clinic featuring a curriculum developed by the new training coaches at Bowmen Sports. The clinic includes speed games like Capture the Flag and Agility Tag. All speed and agility drills are age appropriate. Proper technique is taught and coaching done through positive reinforcement. Improve speed and overall conditioning while having a blast getting ready for the next level of play. Take home your agility stats and times on a certificate. For an indoor/ outdoor program, children will need to bring a snack, water, sunscreen, and gym shoes.

Bring Minecraft to life by using tens of thousands of LEGOs! Build engineer-designed projects such as a motorized Creeper, a portal to the Nether, and a moving Minecart! Create your favorite Minecraft objects with the guidance of an experienced Play-Well instructor. Whether you are new to Minecraft and LEGO or a seasoned veteran, you’ll be hooked on the endless creative possibilities.

Volleyball TECH Camp

Beginner Golf Camp Specialized golf clinic featuring a curriculum designed just for kids. The program includes instruction on driving, chipping, scoring, game play, and etiquette. The goal is for the player to become more confident with their golf swing and equipment while learning golf rules and strategy. Children need to bring a snack, water, and sunscreen, and may bring golf clubs or use clubs provided. Volleyball TECH features a fun-but-tough curriculum designed for young players. Coaches set up drills and stations to provide maximum time handling a volleyball. Passing and receiving is the basis of this fundamentals camp, which also strives to build confidence in serving. Children need to bring a snack, water, and gym shoes. Minecraft Master Engineering using LEGO Bring Minecraft to life using LEGOs! Build a motorized walking Creeper, a terrifying Ghast, and a motorized Minecart! This projectbased camp, designed by Play-Well instructors, combines the basic format of these core engineering-themed programs in the world of Minecraft. Students explore real-world concepts in physics, engineering, and architecture while building their favorite Minecraft objects. Students have a blast, even without prior experience with Minecraft or LEGO. Build LEGO models of every kind of flying machine, from wings that flap like a bird, to P-51 Mustangs, stealth bombers, and NASA rockets. Then discover how real-world aircraft and spacecraft actually fly! Explore the history of flight, from Icarus to Da Vinci to the Wright Brothers to NASA. Discover how birds, stealth fighters, blimps, and rockets all use the same FUNdamental concepts to actually fly! An engineered curriculum designed by the Play-Well instructors, challenges heroes to design, build, and save the city—using ingenuity and imagination to solve any conflict. Art Adventure Camp Complete eight amazing summer-themed landscapes, seascapes, animals, and florals under the guidance of a professional, certified instructor from the awardwinning Robert Garden School of Art in this fun-filled camp. Learn true fine art techniques and creative thinking from a pro—not just crafts—using different mediums: heavy, light acrylic, and watercolor to create beautiful paintings, and drawing mediums: oil pastel and charcoal. Composition, perspective, color mixing, brush strokes, and more will be demonstrated step-by-step. All art supplies are provided. Wear an old t-shirt and bring a roll of paper towels to class. Mad Science- Forensic Lab

Take a new look at the world around you during this exciting summer camp! Learn how to create codes so you can pass secret messages, protect the planet, understand how to eat like different animals, and learn about space.

Join in CSI-style forensics in a hands-on look at crime scenes. Identify and collect evidence from fingerprints to trash! Recreate the scene of a crime using clues and identify suspects using science in this investigation into the science of sleuthing.

Challenger British Soccer Camp

One. Soccer School Camp sets itself apart from other youth sports education providers because they apply an innovative 10-step curriculum that incorporates SAQ (skills, agility and quickness), yoga, and Footvolley (a cross between soccer and volleyball), among other tactics, to teach players the necessary skills to excel. Each player receives a pro jersey, shorts, and socks, along with a pro training ball and a backpack. In addition, they get professional youth training from top flight coaches from all over the world. Beginning Yoga

Gentle Stretch Yoga

Enjoy a supportive class environment while being introduced to the basics of yoga. Physical and mental benefits include: increased flexibility, strength, stamina, awareness, concentration, balance, and grace. Most of all yoga is fun and will leave you feeling relaxed, refreshed, and peaceful.

This gentle class, practiced to soothing music, combines Level 1 poses, breath work, and meditation. It is geared toward students who wish to move at a slower pace, as well as those that desire a more gentle practice between their more vigorous activities. Props are used for gentle relaxation and deepening the restorative benefits of the poses.

Yoga Flow Basics Each month, the class begins by learning basic alignment of selected poses, breath work, and meditation. As the class progresses, new poses are added, creating a flow using these poses and synchronizing them with proper breathing. Each class utilizes warm-up poses to allow deeper stretching and cool-down poses to release the muscles and allow for complete relaxation. No experience is necessary. Yoga Flow Basics Each month, the class begins by teaching basic alignment of selected poses, breath work, and meditation. As the class progresses, new poses are added creating a flow using these poses and synchronizing them with proper breathing.
