Village - A Bonding Experience The Kindermusik Village class provides a delightful environment unlike any other.

Through a unique blend of multi-level activities that include creative movement, vocal play, object and instrument exploration, and a colorful literature component, baby’s growth and development are stimulated and all senses engaged.

Kindermusik Village is for lap babies, crawlers, and walkers. It incorporates the most current research on early childhood development and provides families a special place for learning and connecting with other parents and babies through music and movement. YOUTH CLASSES Our Time – On the Go! Our Time encourages toddlers to uncover an engaging musical world while building confidence, self-control, and communications skills. Singing, imitating sounds, rhyming, and object identification foster language skills, while creative movement to various musical “moods” develops a sense of balance, timing, and spatial awareness. Listening and turntaking encourage blossoming social skills.

For the toddler, every day brings new discoveries and opportunities to explore the world. Despite a display of independence, the 1.5 to 3 year old child still longs for the safety and security of parental closeness.

Kindermusik Our Time encourages children to be creative, to initiate their own ideas and to respond in their own ways, while the parents’ active participation gives the toddlers the security they need. Playing instruments, singing, moving, and exploring uncover an engaging musical world while building the toddlers’ confidence, self-control, and communications skills. Imagine That! Individuality and Independence Imagine That! takes the preschooler on a musical journey of discovery and exploration…a journey limited only by the power of imagination. Pretend play activities are integrated with music, vocal development, storytelling, movement, and literature to capture the preschooler’s potential to learn and to encourage cognitive and literacy skills, creativity and individuality.

Designed for active, energetic, enthusiastic, and imaginative children ages 3.5 to 5, Imagine That! classes encourage socialization, sharing, and participating in group activities.

Singing becomes a focus for enhancing the preschooler’s vocal development as expressive language is just beginning to emerge. The parent and child have fun participating together in the last 10-15 minutes of class during Sharing Time, where they’ll also learn about Home Activities they can enjoy together throughout the week. Soccer Touch

Tumbling for Tots

VolleyKats

Soccer Touch is our flagship program!

Playable on almost any surface, these soccer-themed motor skills classes are very easy for youngsters to find success. Younger age groups focus on developing motor skills and self-confidence; older classes focus on developing core soccer skills, personal focus, and introduce an element of light competition.

This class will teach the fundamentals of gymnastics on a floor mat while developing flexibility and strength. Children will learn sports skills such as catching, throwing, and kicking. Classes will build self-esteem and create group interaction skills.

We use a variety of fun games and tools to teach basic volleyball techniques including passing, setting, hitting, serving, and blocking.

Students will learn to use footwork and arm motion together to perfect hitting technique.

Girls on the Run

Fall Volleyball League

This is a physical-activity based positive youth development program that creatively combines running games and discussions that focus on important topics such as dealing with peer pressure, body image, teamwork, bullying, and more. Along the way the girls train to run a 5K at the end of the season (Nov. 18). Scholarships are available.

The league is designed to introduce young ladies to the game of volleyball. It was created to provide a safe, fun environment to learn the basic premises of the game through practices, teaching the fundamental volleyball skills, sport ethics, and league competition.

A team will consist of a minimum of 8 players and maximum of 12 players. Teams will practice an hour each week. Players will receive a team T-shirt.

Registration can be completed online or in person. To register, the team coach must contact the Recreation Department at 817.503.1180 with their team information. At that time, the coach will be given a team code to give to their team to register.

Signing up as an individual or a free agent does not guarantee your child a spot on a team. A coach will have to volunteer in order for a team of free agents to be formed. If and when a coach volunteers, a staff member will contact individuals with team information. If you would like to coach, please call 817-503-1180 for more details.

Aikido - A Traditional Japanese Martial Art Aikido focuses on natural movement to neutralize attacks through harmonization, centering, and relaxation. Colleyville Squirrels Junior Team Tennis Home of the 2013 State Champions! This class is designed for players wanting to get involved in NETT Junior Team Tennis.

Gentle Flow Yoga

Yoga Flow Basics

This class is a gentle flow of poses integrating breath and movement. Focus will be on flexibility, strength, balance, and alignment.

The class will end with a guided relaxation.

Some yoga knowledge is recommended.

Each month, the class begins by teaching basic alignment of selected poses, breath work, and meditation. As the class progresses, new poses are added creating a flow using these poses and synchronizing them with proper breathing. Each class utilizes warm-up poses to allow deeper stretching and cool-down poses to release the muscles and allow for complete relaxation. No experience necessary.

The class is designed to provide options for all levels. A discount is available to Senior Center members. No class Nov. 21-23.

Gentle Stretch Yoga This gentle class, practiced to soothing music, combines Level 1 poses, breath work, and meditation. It is geared toward students who wish to move at a slower pace, as well as those that desire a more gentle practice between their more vigorous activities. Props are used for gentle relaxation and deepening the restorative benefits of the poses.

Candlelight Yin Yoga ‘Plus’

Restorative Yin & Yoga Nidra

This form of yoga uses long, gentle, passive holds to work on the deep dense connective tissues of the body. Longer holds facilitate deeper opening, increased flexibility, and rehabilitation for the joints and muscles. Yin also promotes your meditative or stillness state. We finish with an extended “Modern Day Guided Meditation,” an excellent complement to your active practice, sports, or yang-dominant lifestyle.

Restore, gently stretch, and release those tight tense muscles using lots of comfy props.

Followed by the most relaxing restorative practice ever, “Yoga Nidra,” the perfect remedy for physical and mental relaxation.

Heartfulness Meditation Heartfulness is a simple and effective way to integrate meditation into our daily life. The hearftulness technique shows us to gently turn our attention towards our heart and experience that inner presence for ourselves.

The course consists of a description of the technique, followed by a guided relaxation session and a meditation session. The courses are for people seeking relaxation, individual meditation practice, or to develop the deepest connection to one’s own inner being.

Tap Dancing

In this Mind Fit series, you will learn about proactive ways to enhance cognitive functioning, including fun group activities used in the Cognitive Therapeutics Method, a science-based cognitive stimulation program. TRIPS Join the fun as Senior Center members visit various locations, both near and far. Venues will vary from sports and education to entertainment and special interest. Transportation is provided and will depart from the Senior Center. Payment is non-refundable and is due at the time of registration.

Winstar World Casino

Ask questions and get answers about anything from your head to your toes at the Senior Health Fair and Expo. Flu and pneumonia season is right around the corner, and the health fair and expo provides an opportunity to receive lowcost immunizations. Most immunizations are free with Medicare Part B.

Transportation leaves from the Senior Center. A free breakfast is offered at the casino.

Senior Holiday Party

The 2017 show is “The Fabulous 50s” and will encompass the decade’s great music, from the big band music of the early part of the decade through the golden age of Broadway musicals, to the birth of rock and roll.

Make plans to attend the Annual Senior Holiday Party. Entertainment, dinner, and the famous gift exchange will be part of the festivities. Remember there is a $10 limit for gifts. Register by Dec. 4.

Tai Chi – Yang Style

Yoga Flow Basics

Strength 45

Jazzercise Lite

Tai Chi is a great way to reduce stress and improve concentration, balance, strength, and flexibility through gentle movements. No class Nov. 23.

Each month, the class begins by teaching basic alignment of selected poses, breath work, and meditation. As the class progresses, new poses are added creating a flow using these poses and synchronizing them with proper breathing. Each class utilizes warm-up poses to allow deeper stretching and cool-down poses to release the muscles and allow for complete relaxation. No experience necessary.

The class is designed to provide options for all levels. No class Nov. 21-23.

This is a 45-minute strength class using weights and exercise resistance bands.

Exercises improve balance and flexibility. Fee is for four sessions; start at any time. For details and to register call 817.676.3300.
