Summer Reading Rules
Colleyville Public Library welcomes readers of all ages to participate in the 2025 Summer Reading Challenge, Reading is Groovy! Registration opens Monday, May 19th.
Who may enter?
The Summer Reading Challenge is open to children, teens, and adults. Those ages 12 and under are considered to be in the children’s category; teens are ages 12-17. Participants who are 12 years old must choose to participate in either the Youth or Teen Challenge, but cannot earn prizes for both challenges.
How does the Children’s Challenge work?
Starting on Monday, May 19, participants can begin tracking the number of books they read or the number of minutes they read. Register Monday, May 19 through Tuesday, July 22. All materials must be checked out from the Colleyville Public Library. Books must be kept at least one night. Keep all book checkout receipts and bring them in when claiming a prize.
How does my child register for the Reading Challenge?
Register in-person if your child would like to track their reading using a paper log. Register online if your child would like to track their reading digitally.
What kind of reading counts?
Read or listen to a book, e-book, or audiobook that you checked out from the Colleyville Public Library.
How do I count my child's reading?
Reading can be counted by book title or by time.

Adult & Teen Summer Reading Rules
What kind of reading counts?
How does the Adult and Teen Challenge work?
The Adult Summer Reading Challenge is designed for ages 18+ and the Teen Summer Reading Challenge is for ages 12-17. Participants who are 12 years old must choose to participate in either the Youth or Teen Challenge, but cannot earn prizes for both challenges. Adults and Teens are not required to register for the Reading Challenge.
Read or listen to a book, e-book, or audiobook that you checked out from the Colleyville Public Library between May 19 and July 24. Every book you read and every teen or adult program you attend earns an entry into our weekly prize drawing. After five entries, participants receive a Summer Reading T-Shirt (while supplies last) and are eligible for our Grand Prize Drawing. The more books you read, the more chances you have to win! The first weekly prize drawing will take place on Monday, June 3rd. The last day to turn in entry forms is Thursday, July 24th.

What are the prizes for children?
Level Prize:
For children, the first prize for reading ten books or for five hours includes: a book bag, a Summer Reading T-shirt (while supplies last), and one automatic entry into the grand prize drawing. The first 200 participants to complete their first ten books or five hours will also receive a complimentary kids pass to NRH20 Family Water park, while supplies last.
Level 2-15 Prizes:
An assortment of prizes will be earned for each subsequent level! Prizes earned can be claimed by presenting reading logs and checkout receipts at the Prize Room, during regular library hours.
What are the prizes for teens and adults?
Each week participants can pick a coupon from a local business when they turn in a drawing entry (while supplies last). All entries will be entered into Weekly Drawings. Weekly prize winners will have the opportunity to choose a prize from our prize binder. All participants who submit at least five entries by July 24, 2025 will be entered into our Grand Prize Drawing and will receive a Summer Reading T-Shirt (while supplies last).
The first weekly prize drawing will take place on Monday, June 3.
YOUTH PROGRAMS
Enjoy stories, crafts, and fun activities during the library’s story times. Registration opens Monday, May 19th at 10:00 a.m. Registration is open to all library card holders. Programs are available for newborns through grade 8 and last for seven weeks. Space is limited, so register early. Preference will be given to Colleyville residents; non-residents will be notified if a spot is available.

Looking for a way to serve and volunteer as a family? We’ve got the perfect project for you! Join us as we assemble memory care “fidget mats” serving memory care residents in the community. These fidget mats have been shown to provide calming benefits to those experiencing anxiety and restlessness in their Alzheimer’s and dementia journey. We will be assembling beads, buckles, buttons, and ribbons to be sewn onto no-sew fleece mats, which will then be distributed to local memory care facilities. The kick-off for the service project will be June 14, but please see the library calendar for exact future dates and times if necessary to complete the project. Service hours will be given for middle and high schoolers.
