Biden Champions Community College Education, Free Tuition

resident Joe Biden has focused attention on community colleges at every turn with the promise to reduce tuition costs for students. On his recent visit to the state, President Biden landed at Long Beach Airport and made a beeline to Long Beach City College shortly after touch-

down. California Community Colleges Chancellor Eloy Ortiz Oakley is on temporary leave while on special assignment with the Biden administration. Oakley is the senior adviser to U.S. Education Secretary Miguel Cardona on higher education policy. Oakley previously worked with the Biden campaign’s education policy group. He says his experience with California’s diverse student population is significant to advancing the president’s education agenda. Photo by Louis White

re you planning a return to campus this semester and beyond? If so, there are some new protocols to plan for. Starting Sept. 9, 2021, the LACCD will implement changes approved by the Board of Trustees to Board Policy 2900 and will now require all employees and students to provide proof of vaccination status to access campus facilities. Please plan accordingly with this helpful guide of essential requirements and protocols provided by the Los Angeles Community College District:

• Students must create their free Cleared4 account. If you have not yet received a link to do so sent to your student email, contact the Cleared4 Help Desk by email to covidcolleges@biocept.com. They will send a personalized link to the Cleared4 platform to set up an account. Look for an email from no-reply@cleared4work. com • When uploading your information into your Cleared4 account, if you do not have medical insurance, clearly
